Adapting diabetes education to culture and context
Sense is a side project I'm building with Sara Krugman, a mobile app that makes diabetes education adapt to the person using it. I lead design across product and brand, and took the app from first concept to a working build now in closed beta.

Build a digital product that brings clinically trusted, personalized diabetes guidance to scale, reaching everyone in a way that works for them.
Self-guided education
Sense structures learning as short, self-paced modules rather than a library of articles to wade through. Progress is the user's own to set, and comprehension is reinforced through varied interaction types instead of passive reading: sorting items into buckets, answering quick comprehension checks, or predicting how a meal moves a glucose curve. Varying the format does two things at once. It keeps a long-term learning journey from going stale, and it gives the research side of the product a way to measure which formats actually change understanding.
Personalized content
Based on the user's profile, the curriculum and its content differ substantially from one person to the next:
Clinical fit. Pump users and people on multiple daily injections (MDI) face different day-to-day decisions, so the two paths cover different ground.
Cultural fit. Content is written for the person's language and food culture together, not translated after the fact. Guidance about carbohydrates or portioning references the meals someone actually cooks, so it's immediately usable rather than a translation exercise.
A platform for research
Underneath the patient experience sits a second product surface, built for researchers. Content is published centrally rather than baked into the app, so revisions reach everyone automatically as clinical guidance changes. The same pipeline lets researchers give different groups different versions of a lesson and see which one works better, and it can carry structured studies beyond education.
